On Tuesday, I attended Voodou Hair Salons' Christmas event at their Colour Specialist site on Bold St, Liverpool. I recently visited that salon a couple months ago to finally get my balayage properly sorted by Senior Stylist Sophie and it was one of the few positive experiences I had at a new hairdressers with everyone being genuinely interested in you as a person and as a client. Therefore I can fully support and vouch for their professionalism, knowledge and expertise. The salon also benefits from stocking Pureology and being one of the few salons to be chosen by Redken to use their professional colour and hair care.
After some mingling and Prosecco guzzling, we had our hair done in one of the four Christmas hairstyles on offer. Always one to say yes to having my hair done, I opted for the Jinglebell braids done by Savanna - the classic french braids with intricate bells added in for a little extra something. It actually proved to me how inadequate I really am at doing braids on myself - more practice needed.
Downstairs in The Hippy Club (a unique brand in partnership with Voodou offering various, quality hair extensions), Elizabeth Elsie was offering Christmas makeovers. Watching someone get their make-up done is therapeutic to me - transformations are just enjoyable to watch. Plus it helps that Elizabeth is a blending machine - making everything look quick and easy. I spent half an hour watching the other bloggers getting made up before I decided what to go for. Wanting to go out of my comfort zone, I went for a deep maroon glitter lip and the extra (I was tempted by the blue, but for the bus home, it may have been too much).
It was great to be amongst a passionate team and their enthusiasm and love for their art is really emulated throughout the salon.
